Ugh. I wanted to do this the other day and it's a bitch to do so. But here's what you do:
1. Get other email. 2. Using your Blogger Dashboard, invite your other email address to be a contributor to your blog. 3. Log in with the other email address and accept it. 4. Log back in with your first email address and promote the second email address to have Administrative privileges. 5. Log in with the second email address and remove the first email address as an author on the blog.
That takes care of your blog itself.
Now if you want to export your Reading List to your new account, that's a whole other convoluted process...
1. From your first email address, click the "View in Google Reader" link. 2. Click on "manage subscriptions" on the bottom left. 3. Click the "Import/Export" tab. 4. Click "Export..." and save the OMPL file somewhere convenient. 5. Log into Google with your second email address. 6. Go go Google Reader (from the homepage, click "More" then "Reader"). 7. Click "manage subscriptions" 8. Click "import/export" 9. Click "Choose file" under the "Import..." area and follow directions. 10. You should see all the blogs you follow. 11. Go back to your Blogger Dashboard for the second email account. 12. Get to your Reading List and click "Add" 13. Choose "Import from Google Reader" 14. Select all. Then Go.
I forgot to mention - make sure you're drinking when you do this.
The problem is that you'll now have two Google accounts following all the same blogs. It's annoying, but you can ignore the first.
By the way, this is why I'm following you twice. Once with my old email address, once with my new one.
Feel free to email me if you get stuck somewhere. But for the love of god, be sure you have at least two bottles of wine on hand when you start this process.
Glad Maxwell can help you with that cause i'm clueless! Sorry girl not much help with computer stuff. As for my blog you were the closest but I'll tell which one was a total lie tomorrow. lol Yep only one is false..

Why can't Google realize that people want to change email addresses and potentially even hold down multiple Gmail accounts?
ReplyDeleteThis entire process led to some loud and angry cursing one night...

Well, I read the first comment before the second and I am not sure I can move my reading list anymore.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all let me say thank you as I am not allowed to drink at work...anymore...
Second, you are absolutely right about needing the ability to change your e-mail address. This is insane!!
Thanks Maxwell!
I was successfully able to keep all of the blogs I was following. Thanks again Maxwell, you are my HERO!
ReplyDeleteHappy to help. This took me 3-4 hours to figure out myself one night, so assuming it took you less, yay!
